highlights of eZ publish 3.5

Complete renewal of the administration interface. Amongst the changes are:

• New design.
• Viewing and editing content improved for a more logical user experience.
• More consistent use of error messages and dialogs.
• Content treemenu for faster navigation
• Javascript popupmenu for faster access to common operations.
• Tooltips on the buttons and fields for most common operations.
• Design related functionality moved to design tab.

eZ publish 3.5 has a new class attribute called "Container class". This attribute controls whether class instances can have sub-items or not. If you upgrade remember to run the script "updateiscontainer.php" in the folder "update/common/scripts/". However, you need to set this attribute yourself for any custom classes you may have made

Changes since 3.5 alpha 1

• New design implemented on all pages of the administration interface.
• New administration interface design has been polished to make it feel consistent and a bit less heavy.
• Hide functionality is completely done.
• Tooltips added throughout the administration interface.
• New swap functionality makes it possible to let two nodes switch places in the content tree.
• New upload functionality when editing content makes it easier to add images and files.
• Several problems with webdav have been resolved.
• Sanity check when removing classes. It is now impossible to remove the user classes since it will make it impossible to log in to the system.

Known issues with this release

• The new admin interface has not yet been performance optimized and may be slow for very large sites.
• The move button in the sub items list does not work.
• A memory bug in PHP has been discovered which makes eZ publish fail from time to time when template compilation is turned on. The beta is shipped with template compilation disabled.

These known issues will be fixed before the final release.
