Bolinos uses standard open-source software: PHP, Apache, mySQL, providing an environment for deploying powerful Internet based content management solutions.

Using the BolinOS virtual desktop and its three basic contents viewing-modes (view, edit, wysiwyg), anyone can build and manage multimedia contents easily! try it on line! and give a look to the demo pages!

BolinOS IS currently developed IN PHP. PHP IS the acronym FOR 'pre hypertext processor' (thanks Anton ;-) ), AND this IS an extremely powerful LANGUAGE.

PHP seems TO have FOUND a good balance BETWEEN ease OF use (AND OF training) AND programming efficiency. It IS maybe (I said maybe... ;-) ) NOT AS powerful AS other languages, but hey, AT least it doesn't require too much skills to understand, and more important, enables almost anyone to built powerful applications.

To run ON your server, BolinOS requires a recent PHP install AS well AS a mySQL database OF recent facture, AND naturally a version OF Apache.

BolinOS IS free, it IS distributed under the GNU / GPL OPEN source license.

While BolinOS needs a mySQL database, it can communicate WITH AND use others IN combination: Oracle, Access, ... you NAME it. You can CHECK this out ON the www.PHP.net webpage.
